5.1 Administration

Under the Options Menu in the Ribbon anyone with administrative access will have Administration available for selection. Under this drop down the administrator can perform the following tasks:

 

Rules (OptionsAdministrationRules

This part of the application the administrator can define profiles, rules and rule assignments.

                                   

Define Profiles

Used to group like business units together.

Define Profiles

Rules may be created by account for each profile and distributed to memeber business units.

 

Business Unit Profile Allocation

Used to assign business units profiles.

Assign businss units to profiles.

 

 

 

 Forecast Rules

Used to set up rules for how each account is going to be forecasted for all business units in the selected profile.

 

Forecast Rule Wizard

Gives user various options of defined rules that can be applied to the selected account.  The rule will aply to the selected account to all business uhits in the profile.

 

 

Forecast Rule Definition

This is used to set up the selected rule.  First select 1 of 3 options (No Ability, Global, Business Unit and Amend Ability:

 

Define users ability to override the rule with manual entry by checking the following box:

Define how the rule should be spread by selecting the Parameter type(Global, Manual Input or Last Year Ratio).  If Global is selected, choose from the list displayed on the screen.  If Manual Input is selected, then manually enter your spread method.  Lastly, if Last Year Ratio is selected, then simply click Next.  The allocation is based on the prior year's set of data.

 

 

Forecast Rule Definition Acceptance

Provides a summary of your selected rule and how it will be applied to your business units.  Additionally, this is the final step prior to yuour rule being committed.

Global Period Parameters

Used to set up global parameters to be used in the various types of forecast rules.

Percentage of Current Amount (POC)

 

Percentage of Previous Balance(POP)

 

Growth Index

Profile Rule Period Input

Captures period parameters for profile forecast rules which are not linked to global parameters.

 Period and Version

Period and version admistration area of the application. The administrator can come into this area to seveal things.

Define the working days for each period, which can function as spread options for calculations.

Maintain the current month end period for forecasting and budgeting.  This is also used to define your fiscal calendar year.Provides the Administrator the option to create versions of your current budget to be referenced at a later time.

Version Snapshot and Control

Allows the administrator to create a static snapshot of the current working forecast.

To do so, the user will start under Source Version. The user will select the source (From)and the sedtination (To).  This is typically from Working Forecast to Budget.  

The following step would be to select the Filter check box to display all cubes with the Version dimension in the model.  Double Click under Incl and Calc columns to include the cubes as part of the versioning process.  Once Completed, Click Save.  If any additional instructions need to be made for any of the cubes, such as, defining a period frame, then click instructions.  You can then select the dimension and the members that are part of the requirements of your version.  

 

Foreign Currency 

Allows the administrator to apply currency exchange rates across periods.  The average rate gets applied to P&Laccounts and the colsing rate gets applied to balance sheet accounts.  

 

System Settings

Defines where your current templates reside.
