Modifying Registry Settings

To bypass proCube's default settings in, e.g., Excel slice type, calculation mode, security mode, etc., you can modify the default Registry settings. This can make it easier for your users to get started using proCube and Excel with the proper settings instead of having to change settings from the proCube Options Dialog.

Scripts can be set up to change Registry entries for specific users. Settings are changed from the Registry hives for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER. The information below directs you to some of the more common Registry entries affecting proCube and Excel. Refer to the Registry documentation for details on changing entries and the causes/effects of those changes.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Satori > proCube Server > Server

This folder contains the entries for connecting to proCube servers. An administrator may want to configure these settings for specific servers as opposed to having a user enter his own server from proCube.


HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Satori > proCube > Settings

  • Automatic Recalc — controls whether Automatic Calculation mode in Excel is set to Automatic or Manual (must press F9 to calculate) The values for this setting are: 0=off, 1=on. If set to 1, Automatic Recalc = on. If set to 0, Automatic Recalc = off (which means that Manual Calc = on).

  • Excel Function — determines the default slice type output to Excel (OLAPPivot=0, OLAPTable=1, OLAPReadWrite=2).

  • Number Format — determines the number format used for Excel (e.g., ###,###,###.00)

  • SecurityMode — controls automatic authentication (0=on, 1=off).

  • Application Look — sets the style and color of the desktop as changed manually through the proCube Style function.
